Testing & Other Procedures
As part of a complete neurological diagnostic evaluation, your neurologist may request certain neurophysiologic, laboratory or imaging tests be performed to rule in or rule out suspected diagnoses. Information derived from these tests enhances and complements what the physician can learn about your condition from the history and physical examination.
We maintain a staff of specialty-trained and credentialed neurophysiology technicians who perform testing within our offices. They work under physician supervision performing electroencephalography (EEG), videonystagmography (VNG), nerve conduction studies, carotid Doppler and sensory evoked potential testing. Only physicians perform electromyography (EMG) testing. All test results are interpreted by physicians
For blood work and imaging, patients are referred to outside facilities. For patients with managed care insurance, the insurance company will direct you their preferred labs for your testing.
We also have three Clinical Neuropsychologist who has training at the Ph.D. and Psy.D. level respectively on staff. They assists the physicians, being trained to perform and interpret sophisticated cognitive testing. The testing is done in our offices in Chevy Chase, Providence, Rockville and Wheaton. Patients with memory and cognitive concerns are seen by these professionals.
